Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Taormina, head towards Corso Umberto I, the main street. Walk down Corso Umberto I until you reach the intersection with Via Teatro Greco. Continue straight on Corso Umberto I for about 10 minutes. You will pass several shops and cafes along the way. Once you reach the end of Corso Umberto I, you will see a large square on your left, which is Piazza IX Aprile. Continue straight for another 5 minutes until you reach the end of the street. At this point, you can take the cable car down to Mazzarò beach if you wish, or continue straight towards Catania. After about 15 minutes, you will arrive at the bus station (Stazione degli Autobus) where you can catch a bus to Catania. The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive in Catania, walk towards the city center, and follow the signs to Piazza Scammacca.

    Start at the Taormina bus station (Stazione degli Autobus). Purchase a ticket to Catania from the ticket booth. Buses to Catania leave approximately every 30 minutes. Make sure to check the schedule posted at the station for the exact times. Once on the bus, enjoy the scenic ride which will take about 1 hour. Upon arriving in Catania, disembark at the main bus terminal. From there, walk straight ahead for about 10 minutes until you reach Via Etnea, then turn right. Continue walking down Via Etnea for about 15 minutes, and you will eventually reach Piazza Scammacca, a vibrant square in the heart of Catania.
