The Museo Diocesano e Capitolare di Terni, inaugurated in 2005, is located in the historic center of Terni, within the 17th-century Palazzo del Seminario. The palace itself was built in 1653 by Cardinal-Bishop Francesco Angelo Rapaccioli, who also renovated the adjacent piazza. The architectural design reflects a Roman influence, unifying the diocese's symbolic buildings – the Cathedral, Seminary, and Bishop's Palace – into a unique monumental complex.The museum's collection primarily features paintings and sculptures from the chapter's deposits and diocesan parishes. Works by Livio Agresti, Marten Stellaert, and Francesco Cincinnato are featured, along with pieces attributed to artists from the Umbria-Lazio-Rome region, such as Giovanni Battista Salvi (Sassoferrato), Calisto Calisti, and Giacinto Brandi. Visitors can also view 18th-century paintings from the loggia, depicting sacrificial scenes and the story of the prophet Jonah.In addition to the historical collection, the museum includes a contemporary art section with works by Italian and international artists who have worked in diocesan churches.
