If you're driving from the center of Tirano, head southwest on Via Roma towards Strada Comunale Castello. Continue straight for about 1.5 km until you reach Strada Comunale Castello. Turn left onto this road, and you’ll find Castellaccio approximately 500 meters ahead. There is parking available near the castle.
Public Transportation
To reach Castellaccio by public transport, take the train from any location in Valtellina to Tirano. Once you arrive at Tirano train station, exit and walk towards the bus stop located in front of the station. Take bus line S12 towards the direction of Teglio and get off at the stop 'Castellaccio.' The castle is a short walk (about 10 minutes) from the bus stop. Ensure to check the bus schedule ahead of time for the latest timings.
Walking from Tirano
If you prefer to walk from Tirano, head south on Via Roma and continue until you reach Strada Comunale Castello. This route is about 2.5 km and will take approximately 30 minutes on foot. Enjoy the scenic views as you walk along the road leading to Castellaccio.
