Car
If you are driving from other cities in Veneto, take the A4 motorway towards Venice. Follow the signs for Venezia and exit at Venezia-Mestre. From there, follow the signs to Venice. Note that you cannot drive into the historic center of Venice, so you will need to park at one of the parking facilities in Mestre or Tronchetto. Parking fees range from €20 to €30 per day. From Tronchetto, take the People Mover tram (costing about €1.50 per person) to Piazzale Roma, the main bus terminal in Venice.
Public Transportation - Train
Trains from various locations in Veneto, including Verona, Treviso, and Padua, frequently arrive at Venice Santa Lucia station. Once you arrive, exit the station and walk directly to the Grand Canal. From here, you can take a Vaporetto (water bus) Line 1 towards San Marco (costing about €7.50 for a single ticket) and enjoy the scenic ride. Disembark at the San Marco stop and walk a short distance to Piazza San Marco.
Public Transportation - Bus
If you are traveling by bus, several companies operate services into Venice from around Veneto. Buses will arrive at Piazzale Roma. From there, you can walk to Piazza San Marco (approximately 20 minutes) or take a Vaporetto (water bus) Line 1 towards San Marco (costing about €7.50 for a single ticket). The Vaporetto will drop you off right at the heart of Piazza San Marco.
Walking
Once you are in Venice, either from the Vaporetto stop or Piazzale Roma, follow the signs to Piazza San Marco. It is about a 15 to 20-minute walk through the charming streets of Venice. Look for signs pointing towards 'San Marco' and enjoy the sights along the way, including quaint shops and beautiful canals.
