Car
If you're traveling by car, head towards Venice via the A4 motorway. Once you reach the outskirts of Venice, follow signs for 'Venezia Centro' or 'Piazza San Marco'. Be aware that driving in Venice is restricted, and you will need to park your car at one of the parking garages located in Mestre or at the Tronchetto parking area. The parking fee at Tronchetto is approximately €21 per day. After parking, take the People Mover (a monorail) to Piazzale Roma, which costs about €1.50. From Piazzale Roma, you can either walk or take a vaporetto (water bus) to reach Piazza San Marco. If you walk, follow signs for 'Piazza San Marco', which is about a 30-minute walk through the picturesque streets of Venice.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a train to Venice Santa Lucia station. From the station, exit and follow the signs to the vaporetto (water bus) stops. Purchase a ticket for a vaporetto heading towards San Marco (Line 1 or Line 2). The ticket costs about €7.50 for a single trip. The vaporetto will take you directly to the San Marco stop, which is just a short walk from the Basilica. Make sure to check the vaporetto schedule, as they run frequently but can vary by time of day.
Walking
If you're already in Venice, walking is a lovely option. From major spots like the Rialto Bridge or the Venice Santa Lucia train station, simply follow the signs towards 'Piazza San Marco'. The walk can take anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes depending on your starting point. As you walk, enjoy the beautiful canals and bridges. Once you reach Piazza San Marco, the Basilica will be right in front of you, located at 'P.za San Marco, 328, 30100 Venezia VE'.
