Getting There

Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the nearest town, Morant Bay. From Morant Bay, take the A4 road heading east for approximately 12 kilometers until you reach the junction for the B2 road. Turn left onto B2 and continue for about 10 kilometers until you reach the entrance to the John Crow Mountains National Park. There is usually a small fee for entry, so be prepared to pay a nominal fee of around $500 JMD per person. Once inside the park, follow the signs directing you towards John Crow Peak. There are several trails leading to the peak, and the most popular one is the trail from the park entrance which is approximately a 3-hour hike. Ensure your vehicle is parked in designated areas and secure.

For those using public transportation, take a minibus or taxi from Kingston to Morant Bay. This trip should cost approximately $400 JMD and take about an hour. Once in Morant Bay, you can either hire a taxi to take you directly to the entrance of John Crow Mountains National Park or catch a local bus heading towards the park area. If you choose the bus option, be sure to inform the driver of your destination, which should cost around $200 JMD. Upon arrival at the park entrance, be prepared to pay the entry fee, and then follow the marked trails to John Crow Peak. The hike will take approximately 3 hours, so ensure you have enough time before dark.
