Birt Beach: A Hidden Gem in Hope Bay

Getting There

  From the center of Port Antonio, head east on William Street towards the waterfront. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with West Street. Turn left onto West Street and follow it until you reach the large roundabout known as the Port Antonio Roundabout. At the roundabout, take the exit that leads to the A4 highway towards Hope Bay. Follow the A4 for approximately 12 kilometers. As you approach Hope Bay, look for the sign directing you to local beaches. Birt Beach is located just off the main road, near the coordinates 6C3P+44J. You may need to ask locals for the exact path leading to the beach from the main road, as it may not be well-marked.

  From Port Antonio, make your way to the local bus station located on West Street. Look for buses heading towards Hope Bay or any buses that indicate they will stop at the beach. Board the bus and pay the fare (usually a small amount). The bus ride will take about 30 minutes. Ask the driver to let you know when you reach Hope Bay, and they will typically stop near the beach area. Once you get off, you may need to walk a short distance to reach Birt Beach.
