Car
If you are driving, start your journey from Awa city center. Head north on Route 58. Continue on this road for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the Nago area. Once in Nago, follow signs for Katsuyama. You will see signs for Mt Awa shortly after entering Katsuyama. The drive should take about 40 minutes, depending on traffic. There is parking available near the trailhead, which may incur a fee of around 500 yen.
Public Transportation
To reach Mt Awa using public transportation, first, take a local bus from Awa. The bus you need is the 'Nago Line' which departs from Awa Bus Terminal. Make sure to check the schedule, as buses may run infrequently. Ride the bus for about 45 minutes and disembark at the 'Katsuyama' stop. From there, follow the signs towards Mt Awa, which is about a 15-minute walk from the bus stop. The bus fare is approximately 600 yen one way.
Taxi
For a more direct and convenient option, you can take a taxi from Awa to Mt Awa. This is especially recommended if you are traveling with a group or have heavy luggage. The taxi ride will take around 30 minutes and should cost approximately 3,000 to 4,000 yen, depending on traffic and the exact pick-up point.
