The clay, sourced locally, is fired at high temperatures in wood-burning kilns, resulting in unique patterns and textures known as "yohen" or kiln effects. These effects, such as "goma" (sesame seed) and "hidasuki" (fire stripe), add to the pottery's rustic simplicity and timeless appeal.At Blue Bizen, you can participate in pottery classes suitable for all skill levels. Experienced instructors guide you through the process of shaping clay, using techniques passed down through generations. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced potter, you'll have the chance to create your own original Bizen ware piece. Blue Bizen is open from 10:00 to 18:00, from Sunday to Friday, offering flexibility for visitors.
