    From Kyoto Station, the fastest and most convenient way to reach Arashiyama is via the JR Sagano Line (also known as the JR Sanin Line). Take the train to Saga-Arashiyama Station (15-20 minutes, ¥240). From there, it's a 5-10 minute walk to central Arashiyama. Alternatively, the Keifuku Arashiyama Line connects Arashiyama with central Kyoto. Take the train to Keifuku Arashiyama Station (20 minutes, ¥250). This station is located in the very center of Arashiyama. From the Saga-Arashiyama Station, you may take a bus, which departs approximately every seven minutes. Costs: * JR Sagano Line: ¥240 one way * Keifuku Arashiyama Line: ¥250 one way * Kyoto City Bus: ¥230 one way (within Kyoto City)

  • Walking

    Arashiyama is easily walkable, with most attractions located within a comfortable distance of each other. From Saga-Arashiyama Station, it's a 5-10 minute walk to the Togetsukyo Bridge and central Arashiyama. The Arashiyama Bamboo Grove is a short walk from Tenryu-ji Temple. Iwatayama Monkey Park is accessible via a hiking trail from the south side of the Katsura River, near the Togetsukyo Bridge. Costs: Walking is free.

    Taxis are available from Kyoto Station to Arashiyama. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Taxis can be found at the taxi stands in front of Kyoto Station. Cost: ¥3,000-¥4,500.

    Driving to Arashiyama is possible, but parking can be limited, especially during peak seasons. The Kyoto City Arashiyama Tourist Parking Lot is located near the Togetsukyo Bridge.
