Utsubuki Park, a verdant escape in Kurayoshi, Tottori Prefecture, has been a beloved destination for over a century. The park was established in 1904 to honor the visit of Crown Prince Taisho (later Emperor Taisho) to the San'in region. Today, it stands as one of Japan's top 100 cherry blossom viewing sites, drawing visitors with its stunning floral displays and tranquil atmosphere.The park is situated at the base of Mount Utsubuki, a 204-meter peak that was once the site of Kurayoshi City's feudal castle. This location provides convenient access to mountain trails leading to the former castle grounds, the mountain's summit, and observation towers. The main area of Utsubuki Park features a playground, a small zoo, and the picturesque Hagoromo Pond.Utsubuki Park offers seasonal beauty throughout the year. Spring brings the celebrated cherry blossoms and vibrant azaleas. Summer offers fresh greenery, while autumn transforms the park with colorful foliage. Even in winter, camellia blossoms add charm to the landscape.The park is also home to a small zoo with animals like monkeys, rabbits, peacocks, and guinea pigs. Visitors can also purchase 'hodoki paper' to write down regrets and wishes and float them in Hagoromo Pond. This unique activity is believed to dissolve past failures and memories as the paper disintegrates in the water.
