    Walking

    From JR Futaminoura Station, exit and walk towards the sea. Follow the road along the coast for approximately 15 minutes until you reach Hinjitsukan. The walk offers scenic views of Ise Bay and the surrounding area.

    Public Transport

    From Ise-shi Station, take the JR Sangu Line to Futaminoura Station. The train ride takes approximately 6 minutes and costs ¥210. From Futaminoura Station, it is a 15-minute walk to Hinjitsukan.

    Taxis are available from Ise Station. The ride to Hinjitsukan takes about 10 minutes and costs approximately ¥1500-¥2000, depending on traffic.

    Located in Futami, near the famous Meoto Iwa (Wedded Rocks), Hinjitsukan is a historical gem that served as a luxurious retreat for members of the Imperial family and other dignitaries. Constructed in 1887, the two-story guesthouse exemplifies the architectural styles of the Meiji period, a time when Japan was rapidly modernizing and incorporating Western influences.Originally built as a resting and lodging facility for visitors to Ise Jingu Shrine, Hinjitsukan, meaning “a palace at which distinguished guests stay and above which the sun rises,” welcomed its first guests, members of the Imperial family, shortly after its completion. The building boasts meticulously landscaped gardens, offering serene views of the sea. Inside, visitors can explore the Grand Hall, a 120-tatami mat banquet hall featuring an elaborate Momoyama-style ceiling with gold leaf gilding and chandeliers. The Goten no Ma, the room reserved for the highest-ranked guests, provides stunning views of the garden and the sea.Hinjitsukan is now a museum, designated as an important cultural property, displaying architectural and interior designs from the Meiji Era. Visitors can admire the blend of traditional Japanese design with Western-style furniture, offering a unique insight into Japan's modernization. The museum also features exhibits detailing the history of Futami and the works of local painter Nakamura Sashu.
