Getting There

Car
From Kai, start by heading southeast on Route 20 towards Kofu. Follow Route 20 until you reach the interchange for Chuo Expressway (E20). Take the Chuo Expressway south towards Nagoya. After approximately 1.5 hours, take the exit towards Matsumoto and follow Route 19. Continue for about 1 hour until you reach Matsumoto, then merge onto Route 158 towards Takayama. After about 1 hour, take the exit for Route 41 towards Gero. Follow this route for approximately 2 hours, and then take Route 361 towards the coast. Finally, follow signs for Miyagi Coast located at 8PHV+HJ, Miyagi, Chatan, Okinawa.

Train
Start from Kai Station. Take the JR Chuo Main Line train towards Tokyo and transfer at Shinjuku Station. From Shinjuku Station, take the JR Tokaido Shinkansen towards Nagoya. Get off at Nagoya Station and transfer to the JR Tokaido Line towards Kobe. Alight at Himeji Station and switch to the Sanyo Line towards Okayama. At Okayama, take the Shinkansen to Hakata and transfer to the Nishi-Nippon Railroad (Nishitetsu) towards Fukuoka. Finally, take a train to Chatan, and from there, you can either walk or take a local taxi to Miyagi Coast.

From Kai, head to the nearest bus station and take a highway bus towards Matsumoto. After reaching Matsumoto, transfer to a local bus heading to Takayama. Once in Takayama, take another highway bus towards Kanazawa and get off at Chatan. From Chatan, you can either walk or take a local taxi to reach Miyagi Coast.
