A Relaxing Tour in Tokoname

I had such a fun time on this Tokoname tour! The guide was super friendly and shared lots of interesting stories about the town and its pottery. It was my first time there, and just walking around the town was so relaxing. The scenery was beautiful and it felt really calm and uncrowded. I loved seeing all the lucky cats and cat-themed pottery all around the town, and there were so many cute handmade pieces to check out. I also tried the lucky cat painting experience, which was a lot of fun. It’s not included in the tour package but highly recommended if you’d like to design your own lucky cat. Overall, it was an amazing trip for me, and I’d definitely recommend this tour to anyone who loves cats, pottery, or exploring local towns in Japan.

No better way to see Tokoname

This was an amazing experience! Touring with a ceramic artist is the best way to explore Tokoname! Mr. Yagi was knowledgeable, kind, patient, and flexible. He spoke English fluently, and facilitated and translated our conversation with the tea master, Mr. Mizuno, when we visited Chaden - Tea Cafe & Teapot Workshop. I enjoyed his tour tremendously, and learned a lot! Incidentally, Mr. Yagi is VERY talented, comes from an artisan family. His grandfather's, his father's and his own works were on exhibit at the Tokoname Ceramic Hall when I visited. If you are interested in Japanese ceramics, sign up for this tour. You won't be disappointed! FYI: The tour I received was not exactly what was described on Viator, but it was what I wanted. Mr. Yagi was quite willing to pivot and give me a tour of my choosing! fun, informative tour of a beautiful area

This was a highlight of my trip! It was great exploring tokoname with someone familiar with the area, history and potters. I learned and saw so much that I wouldn't have been able to without a guide. I recommend to anyone with an interest in pottery, or even for those who don't (like me) but who like authentic, off the beaten path kind of experiences. The guides were passionate,really knowledgeable and open so it was overall a really fun day.
