Car
If you are driving from the Kyoto countryside, head towards the city center. Use the Kyoto City Expressway (Route 1) and follow the signs for Nakagyo Ward. Exit at the Kawaramachi exit and continue straight. After about 1 km, take a right onto Kawaiyacho, where you will find 先斗町 (Pontocho) at 169-4 Kashiwayacho. There are paid parking lots in the vicinity, so be prepared for parking fees, which typically range from 300 to 600 yen per hour.
Public Transportation
To reach 先斗町 using public transportation, take the JR Nara Line or the JR Sagano Line to Kyoto Station. From there, transfer to the Karasuma Line of the Kyoto Subway and get off at Shijo Station. Take Exit 1 and walk towards the Kamo River. Once you reach the river, walk north for about 10 minutes along the riverbank. You will find 先斗町 at 169-4 Kashiwayacho on your left. The total cost for this journey should be around 300 yen for the train fare.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from any location in the Kyoto countryside. Simply inform the driver to take you to 先斗町 at 169-4 Kashiwayacho, Nakagyo Ward. Taxi fares vary based on distance, but expect to pay anywhere from 1,500 to 3,000 yen depending on your starting point.
