Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Kyoto Station, take the Karasuma Line (subway) towards Kokusai Kaikan and get off at Shijo Station (about 6 minutes). Use Exit 1 to emerge onto Shijo Street. Walk west along Shijo Street for about 10 minutes until you reach the intersection with Kiyamachi Dori. Turn left onto Kiyamachi Dori and walk south for about 5 minutes. Then turn right onto Ishiyacho Street, and Zuisenji Temple will be on your left at 114 Ishiyacho.

  • Walking

    If you are staying in the central area of Kyoto, you can walk to Zuisenji Temple. From the Gion district, walk north along Shijo Avenue towards the Kamo River. Cross the river at Shijo Bridge, and continue walking along Kiyamachi Street. After about 10-15 minutes, turn right onto Ishiyacho Street, and you will find the Zuisenji Temple located at 114 Ishiyacho.

  • Bus

    From Kyoto Station, take bus number 205 or 17 towards Kiyomizu-dera. Get off at the 'Shijo Kawaramachi' bus stop (about 15-20 minutes). From the bus stop, walk east along Shijo Street until you reach Kiyamachi Dori, then turn left and walk south for about 5 minutes. Turn right onto Ishiyacho Street, and Zuisenji Temple will be on your left.

  • Taxi

    If you prefer to take a taxi, simply tell the driver 'Zuisenji Temple' or provide the address: 'Ishiyacho, Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto'. The drive from Kyoto Station should take about 10 minutes, depending on traffic.
