Car
From Nara city center, take Route 369 heading north. Continue for about 20 kilometers until you reach the outskirts of Kyoto. Merge onto Route 1 and follow the signs for 'Kyoto'. After approximately 5 kilometers, take the exit for 'Higashiyama Ward'. Follow the signs for Imakumano Tsuruginomiyacho. The Tsurugi Shrine is located at 13 Imakumano Tsuruginomiyacho, which should be visible on your GPS. There is parking available nearby.

Public Transportation
Start at Nara Station and take the JR Nara Line towards Kyoto. After approximately 45 minutes, get off at Kyoto Station. From Kyoto Station, transfer to the Karasuma Subway Line and head to Karasuma Oike Station. Change to the Tozai Line and ride it to Higashiyama Station. Exit the station and take bus number 100 or 206 from the bus terminal, heading towards 'Kiyomizu-dera'. Get off at the 'Imakumano Tsurugi Shrine' stop, which is a short walk from the shrine entrance.
