Train
From Nara Station, take the JR Nara Line to Kyoto Station. The journey takes about 45 minutes. Once you arrive at Kyoto Station, transfer to the Eizan Electric Railway. Take the Eizan Line bound for Kurama. This train ride will take approximately 30 minutes to reach Kurama Station, which is the nearest station to Mount Kurama.
Bus
From Nara, you can take the Kintetsu Nara Line to Kyoto Station. At Kyoto Station, transfer to the Kyoto City Bus. Take bus number 204 or 205 towards Kurama Onsen. The bus ride will take about an hour. After arriving at Kurama Onsen, you will need to walk approximately 15-20 minutes to reach the entrance of Mount Kurama.
Walking
If you are staying near Kyoto Station, you can walk to the Eizan Electric Railway station, which is just a short distance away. Once at the station, take the Eizan Line to Kurama. After arriving at Kurama Station, follow the signs towards Mount Kurama, which will involve a short hike uphill to the mountain peak.
