Discover more about Minoh National Park

Minoh National Park, nestled in the mountains just north of Osaka, is a haven for nature lovers seeking respite from the city bustle. The park's main draw is the 2.8-kilometer Takimichi Hiking Course, a well-maintained path that leads to the breathtaking Minoh Waterfall. The waterfall plunges 33 meters down a cliff face, creating a picturesque scene that's particularly stunning during the autumn foliage season. The park's history dates back centuries, with En-no-Gyoja, the founder of Shugendo mountain worship, meditating under the falls in the 7th century. Today, visitors can explore the park's diverse attractions, including Ryuanji Temple, known as the birthplace of the lottery in Japan, and the Minoh Park Insectarium, home to thousands of insect species. The path to the waterfall is lined with shops and restaurants, offering local specialties like momiji tempura, deep-fried maple leaves. This unique snack is made from maple leaves preserved in salt for a year, then coated in a sweet batter and fried. Minoh Park is a year-round destination, with each season offering a unique experience. Spring brings fresh greenery, summer offers a cool escape from the heat (with fireflies visible in the evenings), autumn boasts vibrant foliage, and winter provides a serene landscape with a dusting of snow.
