Osaka Castle Park is a sprawling 105.6-hectare park in the heart of Osaka. The park is not only a historical site but also a green oasis offering respite from the bustling city. Within its grounds lies the iconic Osaka Castle, a symbol of the city's rich history and culture.The park's history dates back to the 15th century when the Ishiyama Hongan-ji Temple was built on the site. In 1583, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a powerful feudal lord, destroyed the temple and began constructing Osaka Castle, aiming to unify Japan. The castle was completed in 1585 and became a symbol of his power. However, the castle was burned down in 1615 during the Siege of Osaka. The Tokugawa shogunate rebuilt the castle in 1629, but the main tower was destroyed by lightning in 1665. The current castle tower was rebuilt in 1931.Today, Osaka Castle Park is a popular destination for locals and tourists. Visitors can explore the castle's main tower, which houses a museum with over 10,000 historical artifacts. The park also features several gardens, including the Nishinomaru Garden, known for its cherry blossoms, and a plum grove with over 1,200 plum trees.
