Getting there

Train

The entrance to Universal Studios Japan is a 5-minute walk from Universal City Station on the JR Yumesaki Line (also known as the JR Sakurajima Line). From Osaka Station, take a direct train (approx. 15 minutes, ¥200) or transfer at Nishikujo Station. From Kansai Airport, take the JR Airport Rapid to Nishikujo Station and transfer to the JR Yumesaki Line to Universal City Station (approx. 75 minutes, ¥1180).

Bus

Buses connect Universal Studios Japan to Kansai Airport (50-70 minutes, ¥1800) and Itami Airport (45 minutes, ¥940). Some overnight buses from cities across Japan also stop at Universal Studios Japan. Check online for schedules and booking.

Ferry

The Captain Line ferry connects Universal Studios Japan with Osaka Aquarium (10 minutes, ¥900 one way, ¥1700 round trip). Combination tickets for the aquarium and ferry are available (¥3400 one way, ¥4200 round trip).

Universal Studios Japan (USJ), which opened in 2001, was the first Universal Studios theme park in Asia. Located in Osaka, it offers a wide array of attractions, from thrilling rides to captivating shows, all inspired by blockbuster movies and beloved characters. The park is divided into themed areas, including Hollywood, New York, San Francisco, Jurassic Park, Waterworld, Amity Village, Universal Wonderland, Minion Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and Super Nintendo World. Each area provides an immersive experience with meticulously designed environments and attractions. Popular rides include Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Jurassic Park: The Ride, and Mario Kart: Koopa's Challenge. USJ also hosts seasonal events and parades, ensuring a fresh experience for repeat visitors. Beyond the rides, USJ offers numerous opportunities to meet and take photos with popular characters like Snoopy, Hello Kitty, and the Minions. Universal Citywalk Osaka, located just outside the park gates, features hotels, restaurants, and shops selling Universal Studios merchandise and Osaka souvenirs.
