Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Osumi and take National Route 220 toward the direction of Kagoshima. Continue on Route 220 until you reach the intersection with Route 10. Merge onto Route 10 heading north. Follow Route 10 as it leads you toward Kamakura. You will need to pay tolls on the expressways, which can range from 500 to 2000 yen depending on the route taken. Once you reach Kamakura, follow signs for Hasedera, which is located at 3 Chome-11-2 Hase, Kamakura, Kanagawa. There is parking available near the temple.
Train
To reach Hasedera by public transportation, first take a train from Osumi to Kagoshima Chuo Station. From Kagoshima Chuo, take the Kyushu Shinkansen (bullet train) to Hakata Station. Transfer at Hakata Station to the JR Kagoshima Line, and take a train heading toward Kamakura. Once you arrive at Hase Station, it’s about a 10-minute walk to Hasedera. Follow the signs to the temple, and you will find it at 3 Chome-11-2 Hase. Note that train fares will vary, and it's advisable to check the current prices.
Bus
Alternatively, you can take a bus from Osumi to Kamakura. Find the nearest bus terminal and look for buses that head to Kamakura. The journey may take longer than by car or train, usually around 2-3 hours. Once in Kamakura, you can take a local bus toward Hasedera. The bus stop is located a short distance from the temple entrance. Ensure to have some cash on hand as bus fares typically range from 200 to 600 yen depending on the distance.
