Aquarium Sagamihara: Discover the Wonders of the Sagami River

Aquarium Sagamihara, or Sagamigawa Fureai Science Museum, offers an engaging and educational experience centered around the Sagami River. The aquarium features a variety of exhibits designed to showcase the river's ecosystem, from its headwaters to its mouth. The main highlight is the "Flow Aquarium," a 40-meter-long tank that recreates the Sagami River environment, displaying the different fish species found in each area. Another popular exhibit is the "Ayu Tank," which features the ayu sweetfish, a symbol of the Sagami River. Visitors can also enjoy interactive exhibits, workshops, and feeding sessions, making it a fun and informative experience for all ages. The museum also provides information about the Sagami River's history and cultural significance. In addition to the aquatic exhibits, the museum also features displays about local natural history and Sagamihara's o-dako (giant kite) culture. The museum is open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, with occasional extended hours for special events. It is closed on Mondays, except when Monday is a holiday. Admission is charged, with discounts available for children, seniors, and disabled individuals.
