Getting there

Public Transport

From Mt. Fuji Station, take the Fujikyuko bus F-Line bound for Fujiyoshida, Oshino, and Yamanakako. Get off at the 'Mt. Mikuni Hiking Course Entrance' bus stop (三国山ハイキングコース入口), bus stop 158. Cross the road and follow the signs to Yamanakako Panorama-dai Hiking Trail. From there, it's a 15-minute walk to Yamanakako Panorama-dai, the start of the trail. The bus ride costs approximately ¥890 and takes about one hour.

Car

From the center of Yamanakako village, head southeast on Route 138 towards Hirano. After about 5 kilometers, look for signs for Mt. Mikuni. Turn left onto the access road leading to the peak. After about 2 kilometers, you will reach the parking area near the trailhead. Parking is available at Mikuni Toge Trailhead.

Mt. Mikuni, situated in the scenic Yamanakako area, is a mountain peak renowned for its exceptional views and accessible hiking trails. The mountain provides a peaceful escape into nature, with trails catering to both families and solo adventurers. Reaching the summit rewards hikers with breathtaking vistas of the surrounding lakes and distant peaks, particularly mesmerizing during sunrise and sunset.The trails are generally well-maintained, with some sections marked by pink ribbons. The hike to the top takes about 30 minutes from Yamanakako Communication Plaza Kirara. From the summit, hikers can enjoy views of the Tanzawa Mountains and Sagami Bay. The mountain also sits astride three prefectures: Yamanashi, Shizuoka, and Kanagawa.For those seeking a longer trek, Mt. Mikuni can be incorporated into a loop that includes Mt. Myojin and Mt. Obora. This Mikuni, Panoramadai Hiking Course, which starts from Kagosaka Pass, offers varied terrain and stunning views.
