JR Tower Observatory T38: Sapporo's Panoramic Peak

JR Tower Observatory T38, soaring 160 meters above ground, provides unparalleled panoramic views of Sapporo and beyond. Opened in March 2003, this popular observation deck sits atop the JR Tower, a commercial complex directly connected to JR Sapporo Station. From this vantage point, visitors can witness the city's sprawling layout, framed by natural landmarks such as Mt. Moiwa, Mt. Okura, and the Ishikari Bay. On clear days, the Sea of Japan and even the distant Otaru coastline become visible. The observatory offers distinct perspectives in each direction: the Ishikari Plain and Nopporo Primitive Forest to the east, the urban tapestry of Odori Park and Susukino to the south, and the mountains of Niseko to the west. Inside, T'Cafe provides a relaxing spot to enjoy light meals, cakes, and beverages while soaking in the scenery. At night, the cafe transforms into a bar, offering cocktails and a sophisticated ambiance. The T'Shop souvenir store offers original merchandise, including stationery, postcards, and railway-themed goods. Don't miss the unique experience of visiting the restrooms on the northeast side, particularly the men's room, known for its expansive city views.
