Public Transport

From central Sapporo, take the Toho Subway Line to Kanjodori-higashi Station. From there, take Chuo Bus 東69 or 東79 to the Moerenuma Koen Higashiguchi (モエレ沼公園東口) bus stop. The bus ride takes approximately 25 minutes and costs 240 yen. From the bus stop, it's a short walk to the Music Shell.

From downtown Sapporo (e.g., JR Sapporo Station or Odori Park), a taxi to Moerenuma Park takes approximately 30-40 minutes and costs around 4000 yen. The Music Shell is within walking distance from the park's entrance. Alternatively, a taxi from the nearest subway station, Sakaemachi Station, takes about 20 minutes and costs around 2500 yen.

Nestled at the foot of Play Mountain in Moerenuma Park, the Music Shell is a captivating performance space where art and nature harmonize. Designed by the renowned sculptor Isamu Noguchi, the Music Shell serves as a stage for concerts, dance performances, and other events, set against the backdrop of Moerenuma Park's stunning landscape.The Music Shell consists of two large, approximately 15-meter diameter, concrete 'shells' that act as concave sound reflectors, enhancing the acoustics for performers. These symbolic white shapes, meticulously crafted and polished, draw focus to the scenery at the base of Play Mountain. Facilities for performers, including dressing rooms and restrooms, are located within the structure. The stage area is a 14.5-meter wide semicircle paved with Aji stone.While the Music Shell wasn't part of Noguchi's original model for Moerenuma Park, it was inspired by his vision of incorporating a musical space into the playground. The design was based on his remaining sketches and models of play equipment. The audience can enjoy performances from stone steps facing Play Mountain.
