Fantastic! Good value.

We booked the day before and I am so glad we did. The guides gave us a thorough introduction and safety briefing and were very friendly. We did some rafting which felt fun but also safe! Then some swimming which was great just bobbing about in the water and flowing down the stream, followed by cliff jumping and some games (trying not to fall overboard essentially). I appreciated how they sorted out the train journey back which didn’t feel like as much of a hassle as I was expecting. The experience was well organised and fun and safety was taken seriously. They provide helmets and life jackets, as well as optional wetsuits. However you had to pay around 400 yen if you needed to borrow shoes (due to the walk down and back you cannot go barefoot so I recommend bringing your own). It wasn’t too expensive and as the original booking price was reasonable I didn’t mind paying to rent the shoes, however it would be better to be included. The guide took photos but these were 2,000 yen so we didn’t purchase them. I think they should have just sent us the photos for free to be honest, they were taken on a phone and not the best quality, not worth 2,000 yen. The rapids themselves were perfect, bumpy and fast enough for a thrill but calm enough we felt safe at all times. The river had stunning scenery. A great tour I highly recommend booking, what a fun experience to have in Kyoto!
