Public Transport
From JR Shiretoko Shari Station, take a Shari Bus to Utoro Bus Terminal. The bus ride takes approximately 1 hour and costs around ¥1650. From Utoro Bus Terminal, connect to other buses that go to Shiretoko Nature Center or Shiretoko Five Lakes. The bus to Shiretoko Five Lakes from Utoro is about 25 minutes and costs ¥700. Keep in mind that bus services are infrequent, especially during winter. Check the latest bus schedules.

Car
From Memanbetsu Airport, rent a car and drive towards Utoro, which is the main base for exploring Shiretoko National Park. The drive takes approximately 2 hours. From Utoro, follow the main road into the national park. To reach Shiretoko Five Lakes, drive for about 5 kilometers until you reach the Shiretoko Nature Center, then turn left and drive for another 10 kilometers. Parking at Shiretoko Five Lakes costs ¥500. Be aware that access by private car to Shiretoko Goko Lakes is regulated from August 1st to 25th, and shuttle buses are used instead.
