Explore the Majestic Horse Back Dune

Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving, head towards the Tottori Sand Dunes area and look for signs directing you to Horse Back Dune. From Tottori city center, take Route 9 towards Fukubecho. After approximately 15 minutes, you will see signs for the Tottori Sand Dunes. Follow these signs, and once you're in the sand dune area, you can park at the designated parking area near the main entrance. Horse Back Dune is a short walk from the parking area, just follow the paths leading deeper into the dunes.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, take the JR San'in Main Line from Tottori Station to Fukube Station. This train ride takes about 15 minutes. Upon arriving at Fukube Station, you can take a local bus bound for Tottori Sand Dunes. The bus ride will take approximately 10 minutes, and you will need to get off at the Tottori Sand Dunes entrance stop. From there, follow the signs towards Horse Back Dune, which is about a 15-20 minute walk through the dunes.

• Walking

  Once you have reached the Tottori Sand Dunes entrance, if you are walking from the parking area or the bus stop, head towards the main dune area. Horse Back Dune is located towards the southern part of the dunes. Follow the well-marked paths, and be prepared for some sandy terrain. It will take you around 15-20 minutes on foot to reach Horse Back Dune from the entrance.
