Getting there

Car

If you are driving from Miyanoura Port, take Route 77 south towards Anbo. After approximately 10 km, you will see signs for Daio Sugi. Turn left onto the road that leads to the Daio Sugi parking area. The parking area is available near the entrance of the walking trail leading to Daio Sugi. Please note that parking may incur a small fee, typically around 500 yen.

Public Transportation

From Yakushima Airport or Miyanoura Port, take a bus towards Anbo or Yakushima National Park. You should look for the bus that stops at the 'Daio Sugi' bus stop, which is the nearest stop to the site. The bus ride will take about 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. Bus fares typically range from 500 to 800 yen. Once you arrive at the Daio Sugi bus stop, follow the signs to the walking trail entrance, which is a short walk from the stop.

Walking

After parking your car or disembarking from the bus, follow the signs to the walking trail entrance that leads to Daio Sugi. The trail is well-marked and offers a pleasant hike through the forest. It takes approximately 20-30 minutes to reach Daio Sugi from the trailhead. Ensure you wear comfortable walking shoes, as the path can be uneven in places.
