Sorel Point, perched on the northern coast of Jersey, is a dramatic headland renowned for its breathtaking scenery and geological significance. The area's rocky terrain, shaped by a complex history of magma movement, provides a unique landscape for exploration. On clear days, the Normandy coastline is visible, adding to the allure of this scenic spot. The Sorel Point Lighthouse, constructed in 1938, stands as a sentinel, warning ships of the hazardous Paternoster Reef and Les Dirouilles rocks. Originally powered by acetylene gas and featuring a black-and-white checkered design, the lighthouse was converted to solar power in 2009 and repainted white. While the tower itself is not open to the public, the grounds are accessible and offer stunning views. Visitors can explore the area via several walking paths, taking in the rugged coastline and diverse flora and fauna. The nearby Ronez Quarry offers a stark contrast to the natural beauty, while also providing a glimpse into the island's industrial past.
