Getting there

Public Transport

The easiest way to reach Archirondel Beach via public transport is by bus. From Liberation Station in St. Helier, take either Route 2 or Route 2A towards St. Catherine. The journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes, and the bus stops close to the beach. A single bus fare is around £2.50.

Walking

If you are already in the area, for example, near Gorey Harbour, you can walk to Archirondel Beach along the coastal path. The walk from Gorey is approximately 1.5 miles and takes around 30-40 minutes. Follow the signs for the coastal path, enjoying scenic views of the coastline and St. Catherine's Bay. Be aware that some sections of the path may be uneven or involve steps.

Driving

If driving, follow signs for Archirondel Beach from St. Martin. There is a designated car park near the beach, but it can get busy, especially during peak season. Parking is free. An alternative free car park is located 200m north along the coast road. From the car park, it's a short walk to the beach over smooth pebbles.

Archirondel Beach, nestled on Jersey's northeast coast in the parish of St. Martin, is a delightful destination offering a blend of natural beauty and historical intrigue. The beach is characterized by its smooth pebbles and golden sands, perfect for sunbathing and building sandcastles. At low tide, the beach reveals fascinating rock pools to explore.The beach's most iconic feature is the Archirondel Tower, a Martello tower painted in a striking red and white pattern. Built in 1794, the tower served as a coastal defense structure and continues to act as a daymark for maritime navigation. The adjacent breakwater is a remnant of a 19th-century plan to construct a massive harbor stretching to St. Catherine's, intended to protect British naval vessels. Although the harbor was never completed, the breakwater provides shelter, contributing to the beach's calm waters.Archirondel is a family-friendly beach with generally safe bathing conditions, though caution is advised at high tide due to a steep shelf and slippery pebbles. The beach is also a popular spot for water sports such as swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking. Behind the beach, remnants of German gun emplacements from the Occupation add another layer of historical interest.Amenities at Archirondel include a café, public toilets, and parking. The beach is easily accessible by bus, making it a convenient destination for visitors exploring the island.
