Bus
From Mafraq, head to the local bus station, which is located near the city center. Look for buses heading to Irbid or Umm Qais. Make sure to ask the driver if they stop at Umm Qais. The journey will take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Once you arrive at Umm Qais, disembark at the main entrance area where you will see signs directing you to the archaeological sites.
Shared Taxi
You can take a shared taxi (also known as a service) from Mafraq to Umm Qais. Head to the taxi stand located near the city center. Look for taxis that display a sign for Irbid or Umm Qais. The fare is typically low, shared among passengers, and the trip takes around 30-45 minutes. Inform the driver that you want to go to Umm Qais, and they will drop you off near the entrance to the archaeological site.
Walking
If you are feeling adventurous and up for a hike, you could walk from the outskirts of Mafraq towards Umm Qais. However, this is recommended only for experienced hikers as it is a long trek (approximately 20 kilometers) and requires navigating rural paths. Start by heading northwest from Mafraq, following the main roads and asking locals for directions to Umm Qais. Be sure to carry water and wear appropriate footwear.
