Car
From Tafileh Highlands, start by heading south on the Desert Highway (Route 15). Continue for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the junction for Route 30. Turn left onto Route 30 and follow it for about 40 kilometers. You will pass through small towns and desert landscapes. Keep an eye out for signs indicating Wadi Rum. As you approach Wadi Rum, look for signs indicating the visitor center. The total driving time is about 1.5 hours and you'll need to pay a fee of around 5 Jordanian Dinars (JD) for entrance.
Public Transportation
To reach Wadi Rum from Tafileh Highlands using public transportation, first take a taxi or a local bus to the nearest larger town, which is Ma'an. From Tafileh, this journey may take around 30 minutes. In Ma'an, you can find a bus service that operates to Wadi Rum. Be sure to check the schedule beforehand, as the frequency may vary. The bus ride takes approximately 1 hour and costs around 3 JD. Once you arrive at Wadi Rum, you may need to hire a local jeep tour to explore the protected area, which typically costs around 25-50 JD depending on the tour length.
