From Konza Prairie Biological Station, get onto KS-177 N from the main entrance. Continue on KS-177 N for approximately 8 miles until you reach the exit for I-70 W. Merge onto I-70 W and drive for about 4 miles. Take exit 296 for US-77 N toward Junction City. Continue on US-77 N for about 6 miles. Take the exit toward KS-57 W/Lower McDowell Creek Road. Turn right onto Lower McDowell Creek Road and drive for about 2 miles. Bird Runner Wildlife Refuge will be on your left at 11003 Lower McDowell Crk Rd, Junction City, KS 66441.

From Konza Prairie Biological Station, you would need to drive or arrange for a taxi to Manhattan. Once in Manhattan, catch the Flint Hills Area Transportation Agency (FHATA) bus to Junction City. Upon reaching Junction City, you will need to use a taxi or rideshare service to reach Bird Runner Wildlife Refuge at 11003 Lower McDowell Crk Rd, Junction City, KS 66441, which is about 8 miles away.

If you're feeling adventurous, cycling is an option! Start at the Konza Prairie Biological Station and head towards KS-177 N. Once on KS-177 N, cycle towards Junction City for about 8 miles. After merging onto I-70 W, you can find a safe route along US-77 N towards Junction City. Remember to wear a helmet and bring plenty of water, as parts of the route may not have bike lanes. Once you reach Junction City, navigate to Lower McDowell Creek Road and head west for approximately 2 miles to reach Bird Runner Wildlife Refuge.
