If you are driving, start from the nearest major highway, either US-50 or US-400, depending on your location in Western Kansas. Take US-400 eastbound until you reach I-35 North. Merge onto I-35 N and continue for about 150 miles. Take exit 53B toward I-70 E, and then merge onto I-70 E. Continue on I-70 E for about 40 miles, then take exit 13A for I-635 N toward Kansas City. Follow I-635 N for about 5 miles, and merge onto I-70 E again. Continue for about 10 miles, then take exit 3A to merge onto I-670 E toward St Louis. Take exit 2B on the left for US-24 E, and merge onto US-24 E. Finally, follow signs for Independence, MO and turn onto W Walnut St, where the Independence Visitors' Center is located at 937 W Walnut St, Independence, MO 64050. Parking is available on-site.
