Car
If you are starting from the main visitor center in Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, head south on Highway 27. After about 11 miles, turn right onto Yahoo Falls Road (look for signs indicating Yahoo Falls). Follow Yahoo Falls Road for approximately 5 miles until you reach the parking area at the Yahoo Falls trailhead. From the parking area, you will need to hike about 0.5 miles down the trail to reach the overlook. The road is paved, but be aware that it may be narrow and winding in sections. Parking is free.
Public Transportation
Unfortunately, public transportation options to reach Yahoo Falls Overlook are limited. The nearest major town is Whitley City, KY, which is approximately 10 miles away. If you are in Whitley City, you can consider arranging for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to Yahoo Falls Road. Once you reach Yahoo Falls Road, you will need to walk the 0.5 miles from the parking area along the trail to the overlook. Please note that costs for taxi or rideshare services will vary.
Hiking
If you are already at a nearby trailhead in Big South Fork, you can access the Yahoo Falls Overlook by hiking. The most common route begins at the Yahoo Falls trailhead. The trail to the overlook is well-marked and is approximately 0.5 miles one-way. The hike is moderately easy, suitable for families. Be sure to wear appropriate hiking footwear and bring water.
