Car
If you are driving, the Civil War Fort is located at 1250 Ford Hampton Rd, Winchester, KY 40391. From Lexington, take I-64 E towards Winchester. After about 20 miles, take exit 96 for KY-15 N toward Winchester. Merge onto KY-15 N, and continue straight for approximately 3 miles. Turn left onto Ford Hampton Rd, and the fort will be on your right. There is no entry fee for the site, but check for any special events that may have additional costs.

For those relying on public transport, take the Greyhound bus service from Lexington to Winchester. The bus ride takes approximately 30-45 minutes. Once in Winchester, you can use a local taxi service or rideshare app like Uber or Lyft to reach the fort, which is about 5 miles away from the Greyhound bus station. Be sure to arrange for a return trip as public transportation options may be limited in the evening.

If you are already in the vicinity of Ford Hampton Rd, walking to the fort can be a pleasant experience. The area is scenic, and you can enjoy the local landscape.
