If you are driving, start from the main entrance to the Red River Gorge Geological Area. Head southeast on KY-15 S for about 3 miles. Look for signs for the Red River Gorge and take a left onto KY-77 S. Continue on KY-77 S for approximately 5 miles, passing through a picturesque wooded area. You will come to a junction where you need to turn right onto Pomeroyton Road. Follow this road for about 1 mile, and you will see a small parking area on the left side. Park here, and you will find a well-marked hiking trail leading to Eagle's Nest.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options are limited in this rural area. The best option is to take a Greyhound or other intercity bus to the nearest major town, which is Stanton, KY. From Stanton, you could arrange for a taxi or a ride-sharing service, like Uber, to take you to Eagle's Nest. Expect to pay around $20 to $30 for the taxi ride, and be sure to communicate your destination clearly to the driver.
Hiking
If you are already in the Red River Gorge area and prefer hiking, you can access the Eagle's Nest by following the well-marked trails. From the parking area on Pomeroyton Road, take the Eagle's Nest trailhead located just behind the parking area. The hike is moderate, approximately 1 mile long, and offers stunning views along the way. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water.
