Car
From the center of Red River Gorge Geological Area, head southeast on KY-15 S. Continue for about 4.5 miles until you reach the intersection with KY-77. Turn left onto KY-77 S and drive for approximately 3 miles. Look for the signs directing you to the Red River Gorge Scenic Byway. Follow the byway for about 2 miles until you reach the parking area for the Red-Byrd Arch trailhead, which is located on the left. There is no fee for parking at this location.
Hiking
Once you have parked your car at the Red-Byrd Arch trailhead, begin your hike on the marked trail that leads to Red-Byrd Arch. The hike is approximately 1.5 miles round trip and will take about 30-45 minutes each way. The trail is moderately challenging, so be sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes and bring water. Follow the signs along the trail to ensure you stay on the correct path.
