Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving, begin your journey from the Aberdare National Park main entrance. Follow the main road for approximately 20 kilometers until you reach the sign for Karuru Waterfall. Turn onto the road marked for the waterfall and continue for about 5 kilometers. You will find a designated parking area near the trailhead. Please note that a park entry fee is required, which can be paid at the entrance.

  • Public Transportation

    For those using public transport, you can take a matatu (shared taxi) from Nyeri town to the Aberdare National Park entrance. Once you reach the entrance, you will need to arrange for a local guide or a taxi to take you to the Karuru Waterfall trailhead, as public transport does not go directly to the waterfall. The cost of the matatu is approximately 100-200 KES, and hiring a local guide may cost around 1500-3000 KES depending on negotiation.

  • Walking

    If you are already at the main entrance of Aberdare National Park and prefer to walk, the trail to Karuru Waterfall is well-marked and approximately 5 kilometers from the parking area.
