Car
If you are driving, head towards the Aberdare National Park entrance. Follow the signs to the park, and once inside, proceed to the Kiganjo area. From the park entrance, take the main road and follow the signs directing you to Mathari Nyeri Town. After approximately 10 kilometers, look for signs towards Queens Cave. The last part of the drive will require navigating through some dirt roads; therefore, a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. Ensure you have a GPS or a map app to assist in navigating the last few kilometers.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a matatu (local minibus) from Nyeri town towards Aberdare National Park. Inform the driver that you want to go to Kiganjo/Mathari. Once you reach the Kiganjo area, you can hire a local taxi or ask locals for directions to Queens Cave. Be prepared to negotiate the taxi fare, which can vary depending on the distance and your bargaining skills. The journey may take about 30 minutes from Kiganjo to the cave.
Walking
If you are already within walking distance of Queens Cave, you can trek from Kiganjo. The walk will take you through scenic landscapes and wildlife areas. Ensure you carry sufficient water and wear comfortable shoes. The path might not be well-marked, so consider hiring a local guide to assist you. The walk can take between 1 to 2 hours depending on your pace and the trail conditions.
