Getting There

• Private Car

  If you're traveling by private car, start by heading to the nearest major town, which is Chuka. From Chuka, take the Chuka-Nkabune road towards Nziitu. Continue on this road for about 15 kilometers. You will see signs directing you towards Kavwalũnĩ ka Tharaka. When you reach the coordinates J6XF+4RH, you will find the historical landmark on your right. Ensure that your GPS is set to the coordinates: Latitude -0.3521807, Longitude 38.2245957 for accurate navigation.

• Public Transport (Matatu)

  To reach Kavwalũnĩ ka Tharaka via public transport, first make your way to the Chuka Matatu stage. From there, board a matatu headed for Nziitu or any matatu that goes towards Tharaka Nithi. The fare should be around 100-150 KES. Inform the driver that you want to alight at Kavwalũnĩ ka Tharaka. The journey will take approximately 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive at Nziitu, walk towards the coordinates J6XF+4RH, which is about a 10-minute walk from the matatu drop-off point.

  If you're feeling adventurous and wish to cycle, you can rent a bicycle in Chuka. Start your ride on the Chuka-Nkabune road, which is approximately 15 kilometers to Kavwalũnĩ ka Tharaka.
