Car
If you are driving from Meru Town, head southeast on the Meru-Nanyuki Road (A2) for approximately 30 kilometers. After passing through Nkubu, you will reach the junction for the Mau-Mau Cave. Turn left onto a dirt road that leads to the cave's entrance. The cave is located about 5 kilometers from this junction. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain as the last stretch may require a 4x4 vehicle.
Public Transport
Take a matatu (shared minibus) from Meru Town to Nkubu. Once in Nkubu, look for a local matatu heading towards Nanyuki and inform the driver of your destination, Mau-Mau Cave. The matatu will drop you at the junction for the cave. From there, you can either walk approximately 5 kilometers along the dirt road to the cave or hire a local motorcycle taxi (boda boda) for a small fee.
Boda Boda (Motorcycle Taxi)
If you've reached the junction from Nkubu and prefer not to walk the last 5 kilometers to Mau-Mau Cave, you can hire a local boda boda. Negotiate the fare before starting your journey; it typically costs between 200 to 400 Kenyan Shillings, depending on your negotiation skills. The boda boda will take you directly to the cave entrance.
Use Mau-Mau Cave as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
