If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Embu town. Head southeast on the A2 highway towards Mwea. After approximately 40 kilometers, take the exit towards Mavuria. Continue on the road for about 10 kilometers until you reach the entrance of Mwea National Reserve at coordinates 5JG8+JWX, Mavuria. Make sure to check for any entry fees at the gate, which are usually around KES 1,000 per person.

For those using public transportation, you can take a matatu (shared taxi) from Embu to Mwea. The matatus usually leave from the Embu matatu stage and the fare is approximately KES 150. Once you reach Mwea, you may need to take a boda boda (motorcycle taxi) to the entrance of Mwea National Reserve. The boda boda fare should be around KES 100-200 depending on negotiation. Ensure to confirm your destination with the rider.
