Car
If you are driving from a location in Elgeyo Escarpment, head towards the town of Elgeyo Marakwet. From Elgeyo Marakwet, take the A104 road towards Nakuru. After approximately 35 kilometers, look for the signs directing you to Hells Gate National Park on your right. Turn onto the road marked for the park. The entrance is about 5 kilometers from the main road, and there is a parking area available at the park entrance. Note that there may be an entrance fee, which is typically around 500 KES for adults and 200 KES for children.
Public Transport
To reach Hells Gate National Park using public transport, first make your way to the nearest bus station in Elgeyo Marakwet. Board a bus heading towards Nakuru on the A104 road. After approximately 35 kilometers, ask the driver to drop you at the junction for Hells Gate National Park. From the junction, you will need to hire a local taxi or walk the remaining 5 kilometers to the park entrance. The taxi fare should be negotiated beforehand; expect to pay around 500-800 KES depending on your bargaining skills.
Bicycle or Walking from the Junction
If you prefer an adventurous route after reaching the junction from Nakuru, you can rent a bicycle or walk the remaining distance to Hells Gate National Park. The 5-kilometer road is suitable for cycling and provides scenic views of the surrounding landscapes. Ensure you have enough water and sun protection as this route can be quite exposed. The rental cost for a bicycle is typically around 300-500 KES per day.
