Walking
Start your journey from the Kitale town center, near the Kitale Museum. Head southwest on the main road (Kakamega Road) towards the Kitale Sports Club. Continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction at the Kitale Agricultural Showground. At this junction, turn left onto Wamuini Road. Follow Wamuini Road for approximately 3 kilometers. You will pass several small shops and local houses along the way. Keep an eye out for signs pointing to Wamuini Dam. As you approach closer, you will start seeing the dam area on your right. The dam should be visible, and you can easily access the viewing areas from Wamuini Road.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Kitale. Begin your ride from the Kitale town center and head towards the main road (Kakamega Road). Cycle southwest for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the Kitale Agricultural Showground. Turn left onto Wamuini Road and continue cycling for approximately 3 kilometers. Be cautious of the road conditions and local traffic. You will notice the dam area on your right as you approach. There are safe spots to park your bicycle near the dam.
Motorcycle Taxi (Boda Boda)
To reach Wamuini Dam from Kitale, find a motorcycle taxi (boda boda) in the town center. Negotiate your fare before starting the journey. Instruct the rider to take you to Wamuini Dam via Wamuini Road. The ride should take approximately 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. The rider will navigate through the town and onto the main road, and will drop you off near the dam entrance.
