Getting There

Car
From Kitui Town, head southeast on the Kitui-Kangundo Road (A23) for approximately 15 kilometers. Keep an eye out for the junction near Mutomo, and take the left turn onto a dirt road that leads towards the Kitui Hills. Continue on this road for about 10 kilometers, following the signs that indicate Kitui Hills. The road can be rough, so drive cautiously. The hills will be prominent on your left as you approach.

Public Transportation (Matatu)
In Kitui Town, head to the main matatu stage and look for matatus heading towards Mutomo. Board one of these matatus and inform the driver you want to get off at the junction towards Kitui Hills. The fare should be around 100 KES. After about 30 minutes, get off at the junction, then take a boda boda (motorcycle taxi) to Kitui Hills for about 200 KES. The boda boda drivers are familiar with the area and can take you directly to the foot of the hills.

If you prefer to walk from Kitui Town, start on the Kitui-Kangundo Road (A23) and walk southeast for about 15 kilometers until you reach the junction near Mutomo. From there, take the dirt road that leads to Kitui Hills. Be prepared for a trek of about 10 kilometers along the dirt road, which may be uneven, so wear suitable shoes. Bring plenty of water and snacks as there are limited supplies along this route.
