Getting there

Car

If you are traveling by car within Lamu Archipelago, head towards the town of Lamu. Once in Lamu, follow signs to Shela, which is about a 15-minute drive from the main town. Upon reaching Shela, navigate to the beach area and turn right onto the road leading towards the residential area. Continue straight until you reach the coordinates PW48+C35. Moyoni House will be on your left.

Public Transportation (Matatu)

From Lamu Town, you can take a matatu (shared taxi) heading to Shela. The matatus are usually found near the Lamu Town bus station. The fare is approximately 100 KES per person. The ride takes about 20 minutes. Once you arrive in Shela, ask the driver to drop you off at the main beach area. From there, walk towards the residential area and follow the road until you reach PW48+C35, where Moyoni House is located.

Boat

Another scenic option is to take a boat from Lamu Town to Shela. You can hire a boat from the waterfront, and the cost is usually around 300 KES per person. The boat ride takes about 10-15 minutes. Once you arrive at Shela beach, disembark and walk towards the residential area. Follow the road leading to PW48+C35, where Moyoni House is situated.
