From the fort, head east along the main street, which is lined with shops and cafes. Continue walking for about 10 minutes until you see a large open area ahead; this is Lamu Town Square. The square is a central gathering place and often features local events and activities.
Bicycle
For a more active option, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Lamu Town. Once you have your bike, head towards the main street from the rental shop. Cycle through the bustling streets, enjoying the local scenery. After about 5-10 minutes of cycling, you will arrive at Lamu Town Square. Be cautious as the streets can be narrow and crowded.
Boat
If you are coming from one of the nearby beaches or islands, you may hire a small dhow (traditional boat) to take you to Lamu Town. The journey is scenic and can take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes, depending on your starting point. Once you arrive at the Lamu waterfront, disembark and walk a short distance inland (approximately 5 minutes) to reach Lamu Town Square.
